Cedar Siding Restoration

When it comes to restoring Cedar siding homes In Coeur d’ Alene and throughout North Idaho, our team delivers the same proven log home restoration process that has made us the Go-To Experets across the region. On this beautiful cedar sided home in Sagle Idaho, We completed a complete and thorough restoration using Sashco Products. We began our restoration the same way that we do with log homes. A complete media blast. We media blast Cedar homes for the same reason we media blast log homes. Its the most effective way rot remove previous stains, paints, dirt, and to get back to fresh stainable wood.

After we finish with the media blasting, we immediately do the borate application. The Borate is a crucial step in the restoration process. because this is the product that truly preserves your wood. It prevents wood boring insects and fungal growth. The Borate treatment is perfectly safe for humans, but bugs and fungus do not like it!

Once the logs have dried out after the borate application, we begin our staining process. Just like we do on a log home restoration, we begin with the colorfast application. The colorfast acts as a clear base coat that will soak deeply into the cedar siding, and provide an even base for the stain coat to go over. Typically, we will apply Sashco’s “Capture” stain the next day. The capture stain is the color coat. It does most of the “UV Protection”. We typically apply 2 Coats of capture. the final strewn of the staining process it Sashco’s “Cascade” Clear coat. the cascade clear acts as the hard outer shel of the stain that provides the most protection form moisture. The Cascade clear coat comes in either a semi gloss or a matte finish.

Sagle Cedar Home Restoration- Final Product

After we finished the blasting, borate treatment, and the whole staining process, we finished the project by painting all of the trim and garage doors black. The black trim really added a touch of modern to this cedar home. Although they are not in these pictures, we also installed some beautiful new light fixtures that really tied everything together.

Homeowners searching for expert cedar home restoration in Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Post Falls, Rathdrum, and throughout North Idaho choose us because we bring our proven log home restoration expertise directly to cedar-sided properties. On this recent project just outside Coeur d’Alene, we started with a complete media blast using eco-friendly crushed glass and walnut shells to strip away decades of weathered gray oxidation, mildew, and failed stain while preserving the natural texture of the cedar siding. After blasting, we applied a penetrating borate wood preservative to protect against rot, insects, and moisture damage—critical for cedar homes facing Coeur d’Alene’s lake-effect humidity and harsh winter freeze-thaw cycles. The result is a clean, healthy wood surface ready for long-term beauty.

We then applied two coats of premium Colorfast transparent stain, followed by Capture Stain cassette system to lock in color and eliminate any bleed, finishing with Cascade Clear Coat for superior UV and water resistance that keeps Coeur d’Alene cedar homes looking fresh for years. The final touch: professionally repainting all trim, fascia, soffits, and garage doors in a bold satin black, giving this cedar home a modern, high-contrast look that turns heads around Lake Coeur d’Alene.
